The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History and Meltdown: A Free-Market Look at Why the Stock Market Collapsed, the Economy Tanked, and Government Bailouts Will Make Things Worse are two of his most well-known publications. He has also written numerous more books.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University and his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Columbia University, both in history. For his paper published in 2005 under the title The Church and the Market: A Catholic Defense of the Free Economy, he was honoured with the Templeton Enterprise Award. Melrose, Massachusetts was the place of his birth, and his family was Lutheran at the time. After some time had passed, he became a Roman Catholic.
