Before WWII veteran Bill Linton was shipped to fight in the war, his mother gave him a treasured gift.
The “Heart-Shield Bible,” as it is known, was a standard issue to American soldiers during that time. Many veterans considered it a shield of faith, made to protect them during trying times.
During a battle, Linton was hit on his left shirt pocket. The bullet would have gone straight through his heart had the Bible not been there.

Linton handed down the Bible to his grandson, Zach, who considers it his most prized possession. The veteran passed away peacefully last year after living a long and fulfilling life. His story is testimony to the Lord’s protective grace.

Indeed, the Lord watches over those who keep His word close to their heart.
