Rainer Woelki was born on August 18, 1956 in Germany. Cardinal of the Catholic Church in Germany who was installed as Archbishop of Berlin in the year 2011.
He attended the University of Bonn, where he majored in both philosophy and religion. As a result of the outreach work he does with the LGBT community in Berlin, the Alliance Against Homophobia considered him a worthy candidate for the Respect Award in 2012. During World War II, his parents were forced to leave their home in East Prussia.
