Peter Erdo was born on June 25, 1952 in Hungary. Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church from Hungary, given the role of Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest in 2002 after being selected for the position.
At the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, he studied both theology and canon law, earning doctorates in both fields. In 2005, he participated as a cardinal elector in the papal conclave that ultimately resulted in the election of Pope Benedict XVI. He is the eldest of his six brothers and sisters.
