John Larsson was born on April 2, 1938 in Sweden. The 17th General of the Salvation Army, he collaborated with the General who came before him to write a number of successful theatrical musicals.
Beginning in 1999, he held the role of chief of staff for the Salvation Army, which is the second-highest position that may be held within the organisation. In addition to penning a number of works within the religious canon, he also wrote the history of the Salvation Army. Together with his wife of more than 40 years, Captain Freda Turner, he was blessed with two sons, both of whom joined the Salvation Army.
