George Alencherry was born on April 19, 1945 in India. An important archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, which is a branch of Catholicism practised in the East.
St. Berchman’s College awarded him a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Both the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the Congregation for the Oriental Churches count him as a member of their ranks. It is also the case that two of his brothers are priests.
