Bhakti Charu Swami was born on September 17, 1945 in Bangladesh. He died on Jul 4, 2020 (age 74). This guru also worked as a translator, releasing Bengali versions of the teachings of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the leader of the religious group that he was a part of, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).
After coming across Vedic literature during his time spent studying in Germany in the early 1970s, he went on to move back to India and become a member of ISKCON. During the middle of the 1990s, he was the producer of a documentary series for television that was about the life of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. He spent his childhood in Calcutta, India, despite having been born in Bengal, British India, which is now known as Bangladesh.
