Bartol Kasic was born on August 15, 1575 in Croatia. He died on Dec 28, 1650 (age 75). He is regarded as the “father of Croatian linguistics” due to the fact that he penned the first Croatian grammar.
In 1606, he was ordained as a priest in the Catholic church. He completed the Croatian translation of the Bible. His uncle, who was also a priest, took care of him as a child and instructed him in reading and writing.
