Anton Bernolak was born on October 3, 1762 in Slovakia. He died on Jan 15, 1813 (age 50). Priest of the Catholic Church and creator of the first standard written in Slovak.

He attended classes at the Presburg General Seminary for his education. His expertise in linguistics was instrumental in the founding of the Slovak Educated Brotherhood. He was brought up in the Orava region where he was born.
