After his mother passed away from tuberculosis and his father was murdered by a tree that fell on him when he was just 12 years old, he was an orphan. He is credited with thousands of alleged miraculous healings, and the institution he worked as a porter at requested him to leave because an excessive number of sick people were entering the college asking for him. He was the ninth child out of a total of thirteen.
