Andre Bessette was born on August 9, 1845 in United States. He died on Jan 6, 1937 (age 91). A prominent person in the lives of Catholic French-Canadians and a Lay Brother of the Congregation of Holy Cross.

After his mother passed away from tuberculosis and his father was murdered by a tree that fell on him when he was just 12 years old, he was an orphan. He is credited with thousands of alleged miraculous healings, and the institution he worked as a porter at requested him to leave because an excessive number of sick people were entering the college asking for him. He was the ninth child out of a total of thirteen.
